Google Chrome will soon allow to restore tab groups you previously closed

Have you ever encountered the moment when you working simultaneously on different tasks on your Chrome browser and grouped various windows in various groups and accidentally you closed some group which you don’t want to and you find you have visit same different site and group them again? Ya! Well, the tech giant Google seems to be working on a feature that is bringing a one-click solution.

Right now, when you close a group by right-clicking on the group header, each tab in the group will get listed as a separate entry in the recently closed tab in the History section. But Chrome will soon bring a one-click solution for that.

u/Leopeva64, a Reddit user, spotted closed tab groups appearing as a single unit under the “recently closed” dropdown menu in the latest version of Google Chrome Canary.

Chrome stable lists each tab from a closed group individually

Chrome Canary listing closed groups as a single item

When you close a group, it will appear as a single item rather than each tab shown individually, making it possible to restore the group with just one click or by pressing keystroke for ‘restoring the last close tab’ — Ctrl + Shift + T.

The tab grouping feature was introduced last year and has been really useful for users and increases their productivity along with the tab-search feature through the chrome flag. The tab group feature allows Chrome users to group different tabs or sites together, reducing the mess and making it easier to find what tab where. Users can right-click on a tab to create a group and can even assign a name and color scheme to it for easier allocation.

The easy restoration of group tabs is currently available in the latest version of Chrome Canary for the desktop. It doesn’t require any chrome flag. If you are looking to try this feature, you can download the latest build here. We don’t know when this feature will make its way to the stable Chrome channel but we hope it will soon. The tab grouping feature has already been handy and productive and with it, the time will get minimized to restore the tabs, so it's set to become even better.
