Google Lens to Feature New 'Education Mode' and 'Place Mode'
Previously in March, an APK teardown from XDA of Google App v11.3.7.29 has revealed about two upcoming and unreleased feature - Offline Translations and an Education Mode for Google Lens. But recently, XDA has found something interesting which is Education Mode will provide you to solve Math problems by pointing point camera to the equation you want to solve. XDA Editor-in-Chief, Mishaal Rahmaan has successfully enabled the Education mode in the recently rolled out Google App v11.9.14.29.
The Education Mode found in Google Lens allows you to simply solve math problems by just pointing your device's camera at the equation. This is feature is quite similar to the Microsoft Math Solver, which uses Google's AI to identify the equation and then subsequently provide the result.
While this feature also brings search results to assist users to understand how it reaches to the solution. But it can't be said in which manner this feature perform as of now because we don't know if it can solve complex equations or not like Math Solver and Photomath.
Mishaal has also found another Google Lens feature called Places which could help users to recognize famous landmarks in the same manner. While XDA has not been able to test this feature due to current situation of the pandemic but they managed to do so using some images of famous buildings from Google Images. They said that this feature hasn't work with the images of the landmarks but it might be possible by the time it's official rolling out. While Google has not provided any information regarding these feature and time when they rolled out for public.
