Google Maps Revamped Location Sharing Interface

Google has recently started rolling out a revamped location sharing user interface in Google Maps. The new modern redesign aligns with the overall design of the app and simplifies more information and better user friendly.
One of the major visual change in the redesign is about replacing the outdated blue top bar with a white one. There are also some minor improvements for overall better user experience. If you're the one who unaware of this, then you could simply access the feature by tapping on Google account avatar in the top right corner of Google Maps, after which you should be good to go by tapping on 'Location Sharing' option.

From now on, the frequently shared contacts are going to listed at the bottom (near your thumb) instead of floating heads up as previously. Google Maps has also got a 'New Share' floating action button that lets you quickly get started with the location sharing.
As default, Google has put 1-hour duration for location sharing but you can tweak that by tapping on the timer and setting your preferred duration using virtual + and - icon button controls. You'll also find the 'Until you turn this off' option once you expand it.

The location sharing page has also been updated to match the design language along with a prompt which give clear detail about how this feature is going to work and the data is being shared in the process. The company says, "Your shared location may include information about where you are, where you’ve just been, what you’re doing (like driving or walking), your device (such as battery life, GPS connections), and your places (such as home, work, and destinations)."
While this feature is appearing to be present on Google Maps version 10.40.2. If you don't find the feature yet, make sure to update your Google Maps to the latest version available on the Play Store.
