How to create and remove Web Page shortcut in Chrome and Edge on PC

Chrome is one of the best and most used browsers on both PC and mobile devices. And over that users can also apply some additional features through its experimental lab but without that too, chrome is still the best except Google tracking over its user. So, we have also an alternate option to use Microsoft Edge browser which is a chromium-based browser. Edge browser is more privacy-focused when compared to Chrome and I personally prefer Edge browser on PC in most scenarios.  Besides, you can open directly your website which you visit most often, or your utility website, by creating a shortcut so that it will open as an app. In this article, we are going to guide you about how to create any Web Page shortcut in Chrome as well as Edge browser.

How to create Web Page shortcut in Chrome Browser

1. Open the Chrome Browser and visit the site to create Web Page shortcut 
2. Go to the vertically aligned three-dot menu in the top right corner.
3. Go to More tools and click on “Create shortcut…”
   
   
   
4. Now you get a pop up as “Create shortcut?”
5. Type a name for the shortcut or leave the default name, i.e. the title of the web page.
6. Now you have two option- you can open your favorite site either as a usual window (click before the dialogue box saying Open as Window) or as an application (without clicking on anything).
   
   
   
7. After you did that, you can now hit on ‘Create’ and that’s will add the shortcut on your desktop and in your start menu of your Windows OS.

 

How to uninstall the Web Page shortcut app in Chrome Browser

1.  Open the Web Page shortcut
2. Click on the vertically aligned three-dot menu
   
   
   
3. Select Uninstall Web Page option
4. You get a pop-up for removing the shortcut and select the clear data from Chrome if you want to delete history and cache of that Web Page
   
   
   
5. After that hit Remove.

 

How to create Web Page shortcut in Edge Browser

1.  Open the Edge Browser and visit the site to create Web Page shortcut.
2. Go to the horizontally aligned three-dot menu in the top right corner.
3. Go to More tools and click on Pin to Taskbar
   
   
   
4. Now you get a pop up as “Pin to taskbar”
5. Type a name for the shortcut or leave the default name, i.e. the title of the web page, and hit on the Pin button.
   
   
   

Here you created a shortcut to open the web page to open in the browser as a window while you can’t open that as an app as of now.

How to Unpin or remove Web Page Shortcut from Taskbar

1.  Right-click on the Web Page shortcut
   
2. Click on the Unpin from Taskbar option.
