Sony to Announce the New Xperia Smartphones on February 24: MWC 2020
Sony has finally broken its silence and revealed the official announcement of its next Xperia smartphone. The new Xperia smartphone would supposedly be called Xperia 5 Plus which was earlier rumored to be called as Sony Xperia 3. Along with Xperia 5 Plus, it is also said that the company will also launch a mid-range device built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765 platform.
Company has unveiled Xperia 5 in the last September and before the press invitation the CAD renders of the Xperia 5 Plus has been leaked online. Xperia 5 Plus has a box-design similar to the vanilla 5 but this handset has a larger 6.6-inch OLED display whose top and bottom is surrounded by slimmer bezels. It has also featured dual-front firing speakers with a thickness of 8.1 mm or 9.3mm (considering the camera bump). This device has also similar power button placement with the embedded fingerprint sensor on it. This device has separate volume rockers and the dedicated camera shutter button.
There is a SIM card slot in the left side and the USB Type C Port is placed in its bottom. The previously launched Xperia 5 doesn't have any 3.5mm headphone jack while the upcoming Xperia 5 Plus have that on the top. It also has a quad camera setup including a ToF sensor in its rear and an 8MP selfie in the front.
The upcoming Xperia 5 Plus has been expected to launch with Snapdragon 865 according to the Geekbench, having 12GB RAM running on Android 10 OS. In the same Geekbench it has carried PM-1310 as Model but the same can be seen in the list of supposed devices hosted on SamMobile.com along with three other consecutive Model number which refers that there would be four version of the smartphone. The model will sport 5G connectivity and it has also been rumored that Sony will use QHD resolution screen along with a curved back.
The press invitation confirms that Sony will announce its new handsets on Sony MWC February 24 at 8:30 CET and this will be going for the livestream too.
