Google has occupied a role during the COVID-19 fight as the company has taken several steps to ensure the comfort of people during unfortunate alarming situations. Now, Google has rolled out an important update to its services in India which helps people to find near COVID-19 testing centers across the country in collaboration with ICMR and MyGov.
Google has recently rolled out an update for the Google Assistant, Google Search, and Google Maps. This update will let people look for the nearby COVID-19 testing centers and also provide important information regarding the testing centers. With this feature, people who search for COVID-19 related terms will see a new “Testing” tab along with their results. This tab gathers all necessary guidelines, requirements, and information such as:
- Calling the national or state helplines before heading out to get tested
- Carrying a doctor’s prescription (referral required)
- Testing restrictions (tests are limited to certain patients)
- Information about whether the lab is government- or private-run
When you search for COVID-19 resources like testing centers, then Google Maps show you a list of nearby testing labs along with a Google Search link to view the government-mandated requirements.
This important information is currently available in English and in eight Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati. Google has currently integrated over 700 testing labs on Google Search, Google Assistant, and Google Maps spanning more than 300 cities in India, and the company will continue to work with ICMR to add labs across the country as they turn up.
Step 2: Press enter
Step 3: Tap on the Testing tab. Now you will see a list of all the testing centers near your location
