Google Plans to Kill Duo and integrate it into Meet, codenamed Duet: Report


Google has launched and buried so many communication-based apps which isn't even funny to joke about. Now-a-days, whenever an app comes, we inevitably wonder how long before the company will replace its features with something else it comes with or just kill it entirely- only to launch something similar after a few intervals.

Google Plans to Kill Duo and integrate it into Meet

It seems Google Duo has reached its destiny and it probably get the axe soon, as per 9to5Google. Google has launched Google Duo many years ago and now the company wants to integrate it into Google Meet which has recently got the sight. While it absurd to see Duo and Meet at one place as both of them are for different set of users and probably not the best decision the company seems to going with. But its Android world and everything is here is changing now and then, so I don't expect it to be in the same place for long time.

Google's G Suite chief, Javier Soltero was put in charge of its consumer communication services back in May. And it looks like he doesn't think Duo and Meet should coexist. So, Meet will be Google's One and only video calling service, for both consumers and enterprises.

Google Plans to Kill Duo

Duet is the codename decided for the merger of the two services, as Duet + Meet = Duet. While this news comes in shock for the Duo team.

While as for bow, it’s unclear exactly when Duo will lose its independent credibility, but this could also take up to two years until we're there. Before this would happens, a few features of Duo app could be brought to Meet like end-to-end encryption, 3D effects, and being able to contact users via phone number and more.
